Electroless Nickel

Electroless NickelRoHS and non-RoHS available

Description
This is an auto-catalytic process during which nickel is evenly deposited over the surface of the base metal. See application.

Alloy
Low (3—5%) phosphate
Mid (7—9%) phosphate
High (10—12%) phosphate

Post Finish
No post finishes are available for this process.

Rack or Barrel
This process is normally performed on a racking line. A barrel line is available for high volume smaller parts.

Special Treatment
A range of special treatment options are available. For electroless nickel, the popular options are hydrogen embrittlement after plating and bake hardening to VickersC 90 or above.

Maximum Size
The plating tank size is 10 x 4 x 3 ft. Maximum size for the barrel line is 8 x 2.5 x 3 ft.

Thickness
Range from flash (less than one-tenth) to around 15 thou (0.015 inch).

Specification
ASTM, MIL, QQ or to customer specifications

Base Material
This process can be performed on most base metals. There are special processes for plating on aluminum and bronze.

Minimum Charge
$250

Delivery
Average delivery: 24 hours
Guaranteed delivery: 48 hours

Process Qualities
Even plating thickness
Appearance — Bright, stainless steel color
Corrosive resistance — Excellent
Adhesion to base metal — Excellent
Electrical resistivity — Good, increases with higher phosphate process

Application
This process is popular due to its increased hardness and machinability properties. It is a popular substitute for the hard-chrome process.
